Homeowner Highlight with Abby Z.

Taking inspiration from her favorite on-screen designers, Abby took full advantage of Eastbrook’s customization options and worked with our designers to capture the exact look and feel she wanted in her new home. Join Eastbrook as we hear from Abby about her favorite elements of the building process and learn which advice she would give to someone just starting down the home-building path.

What is your decorating inspiration? 

I have always loved darker cabinets with a lighter floor combination. I’m always inspired by browsing through Pinterest and watching HGTV shows such as Fixer Upper and Home Town. The blue exterior has always been a favorite of mine because it reminds me a lot of the big blue beach houses. 

What are your favorite features in your home? 

We went with the main floor expansion with a  keeping room. It gave us that 3rd stall in the garage we wanted, gave us a nice place for the kids to have a playroom, added a mud room and extra closet, and it added space onto the basement for another 5th bedroom. We also love having the laundry upstairs where all the bedrooms are. 

What was your building process /Eastbrook experience like? 

Overall it was a great experience. We loved that we got weekly updates on the progress and we liked that they walk you through each step. We were encouraged to stop by and see in person the progress taking place and that gave us the chance for the contractor to show us all the little details and possible adjustments.

Do you have any tips or tricks for new homeowners?

 Definitely do your research on what your design inspirations are. We sent over tons of pictures, color palettes, and designs we liked to our designer. When it came time to pick everything out at the Home Creation Studio the designer already had some combinations set out for us. This made picking features easy and less stressful.
