Homeowner Highlight with Stephanie

When it comes to choosing or building your home, keeping your lifestyle in mind is vital to ensuring the home meets your needs. At Eastbrook Homes, we help people design homes that create space for the lives they love. That’s exactly what Stephanie experienced when she built her new family home at Lowing Woods in Jenison.
With two pairs of little feet pattering down the halls and a seemingly endless flood of kids’ toys, storage and square footage were essential to the plan! In just a few meetings, our team of experts turned Stephanie’s vision into blueprints and designs. And while we can’t guarantee she’ll never step on another Lego, there are plenty of places to stash those blocks away – and even places for secret Mom snacks.
Keep reading to learn how Stephanie modified her favorite home plan to bring more core childhood memories to her beautiful kids.
When did you move into your home?
We moved in July 2025
What home plan do you have?
Sanibel, we chose this layout as it was important to have the master bedroom on the same level as the kids and the rooms were a bit bigger than other layouts.
How did you incorporate your family’s lifestyle into your home?
We have 2 small kids, so it was important to have a lot that wouldn’t have too high of traffic with kids running around, so we love the lot we picked. It was also important to have a decent amount of storage to quickly declutter kids’ toys!
What is your decorating inspiration?
As parents with kids’ toys everywhere, we wanted simple, functional, and cozy.
What do you love about your Eastbrook community?
I love that there is a community pool. We moved from the East side of Michigan and wanted a place to meet new people in the neighborhood. The community pool helps a lot with that! I also appreciate the sidewalks. When looking for a family-friendly neighborhood, that was surprisingly a little harder to find!
What are your favorite features in your home?
We love our larger garage to help with storage. We are also glad we bumped out our mudroom to create a larger space for us and the kids to get ready.
What was your building process/Eastbrook experience like?
I appreciated that it was 3 main meetings and from there they got to building our house. I loved going to the design studio to be able to see in person what we were picking out as well.
What does “home” mean to you?
A place where my kids can be themselves, laugh, make messes, play outside, and have a memorable childhood.
Do you have any tips or tricks for new homeowners?
Before building a house, tour multiple houses to get an idea of likes and dislikes. If selling a previous home, give yourself a buffer of when you need to move out by because hiccups can happen in the building process causing delays. If you do any bump outs on the main level, the basement will also need to bump out so make sure you like the layout of the basement with the bump out.
A Stress-Free Process
A few thoughtful design choices can make a huge difference when it comes to getting everyone out the door on those busy mornings and coordinating the after-dinner chaos. At Eastbrook Homes, our team helps bring your new home dreams to life. Our streamlined process makes the experience easy and stress-free, so you can spend your time making memories instead of pouring over paperwork.
