A Very Sweet Homeowner Highlight with Liz to Celebrate 57 Years
On the eve of another anniversary celebrating a year of helping homeowners find their dream home, Eastbrook Homes is excited to offer another edition of our Homeowner Highlights series, where we hear stories from real Eastbrook homeowners who offer tips and insights into the home buying process for aspiring homeowners to learn from.
This month’s featured homeowner is Liz, a mother of three young children who was looking for the ideal home to create fond childhood memories for her family. To Liz, home is a safe place where families are allowed to freely be themselves. Thanks to an upstairs play area where her kids can safely run wild and a design aesthetic reflecting her family’s unique personality, Liz’s Eastbrook home is able to be just that.
A talented baker, Liz is using her skills to help Eastbrook Homes celebrate a very special anniversary. On Valentine’s Day, the Eastbrook team celebrated 57 years in business! To commemorate the occasion, Liz baked themed cookies to help the Eastbrook team enjoy a very sweet celebration. Keep reading to hear her whole building story below, and be sure to check out Liz’s cookie business.
When did you move into your home?
We moved into our home in August 2023.
What home plan do you have?
We have the Sebastian floor plan.
How did you incorporate your family’s lifestyle into your home?
We have 3 children (10, 7, and 4) so we opted for the kids’ retreat and the loft area upstairs. The upstairs is truly the kids’ space with plenty of room for their toys and books. It’s been really fun to watch them play together more now that they have a space that gives them room to explore. We also have a bigger kitchen now, which I have enjoyed for my baking and decorating. We chose a large lot so that the kids would have plenty of space to run around and play outside too.
What is your decorating inspiration?
My style is simple, classic colors mixed with midcentury modern furniture. I want to create a space that is warm and welcoming without clutter. My favorite designers are Joanna Gaines and The Established Home show on Max. My sister is also an interior designer in Florida and she helps me with decisions. I’m happy with all I’ve been able to do so far, but there’s a lot more to do with the finishing touches.
What do you love about your Eastbrook community?
I love my neighbors! We have started a monthly get-together with the women on the street and it’s been fun to get to know everyone. Because we’re all new on the street, we’re all in similar situations of wanting to meet our neighbors. I also really love the pool!
What are your favorite features in your home?
There are so many features I love! I love the large kitchen with the island and the walk-in pantry. The mudroom is so nice as an entry and exit for getting out the door easily in the morning. I also really love the master bathroom and closet. It was really fun to create a space to our taste that feels really comfortable.
What was your building process/Eastbrook experience like?
The building process was a process! The time in the design studio was really fun and the waiting part was harder. But we are really happy with the finished result, and we know that everyone was working really hard to get our home completed. We are very satisfied with the final product.
What does “home” mean to you?
As we’re raising children, home means a safe haven from the rest of the world. My hope is that our children look back on their childhoods with fond memories of the home they grew up in. I hope they have felt loved and happy. Home is a place to watch our children grow and flourish.
Do you have any tips or tricks for new homeowners?
I splurged on having our pantry organized right after we moved in. I highly recommend it! We used Simply Done Organizing. Betsy was great and made the process so easy. We also used Pro Low Moving and would recommend them. Also, if your neighborhood has a Facebook page, join it. It’s a great way to find out about the area and maybe meet some neighbors too.
Any other thoughts you would like to add?
I have started having porch sales in my new home and it’s been really meaningful to have a space where I can offer my baked goods to my customers. We are very happy with our choice to go with Eastbrook and be in a great community.
