Homeowner Highlight with Sarah and Wil

When it comes to building your dream home, designing a space that reflects your personality and values makes perfect sense. For Sarah and Wil, their dream home is both an organizational masterpiece and a stylish haven. Wil’s home office effortlessly accommodates necessary tech, while their expansive kitchen has plenty of room for stand mixers and crock pots alike. And in an age where extra outlets are the new standard, it’s important to get them both right!
At Eastbrook Homes, we believe in designing your home around your life. Each room should flow easily, like an extension of your personality, predicting your next move. To make this dream a reality for our homebuyers, we offer various ways to modify each of our home plans. Our design team works with you to bring your vision to life, so you can stay organized without sacrificing your personality or style.
Let’s hear more about how Sarah and Wil made this new build their own, and their advice for aspiring home builders!
When did you move into your home?
November 2024
What home plan do you have?
The Georgetown: 2 Bedroom/Deluxe Kitchen; 12’x12’ Michigan Room; Bath 1 Expansion B with Vanity Option B; Recreation Room, 2 Bedroom, and Bath
How did you incorporate your family’s lifestyle into your home?
We designed our home to feel warm, inviting, and functional for everyday life. The open layout and cozy seating encourage conversation and quality time together. Since Wil works from home, a dedicated home office was a must. It gives him a quiet, productive space while keeping work and home life in balance. Everything has its place, which helps us stay organized without sacrificing style.
What is your decorating inspiration?
Our decorating inspiration blends Scandinavian simplicity with mid-century warmth, but we added our own twist by incorporating rich navy accents throughout the house. The deep blue and navy tones add contrast and personality to our otherwise neutral palette, helping the space feel calm and grounded.
What Eastbrook community do you live in? What do you love about it?
We live in Village Place. We love that Village Place offers the perfect mix of convenience and community. It’s close to I-69, downtown Lansing, and Grand Ledge, which makes getting around so easy, but it still feels peaceful and family-friendly. The clubhouse, pool, and playground make it a great place to spend time with neighbors and enjoy the outdoors. We also really appreciate the beautifully landscaped open spaces and ponds—they make the whole neighborhood feel welcoming and well cared for.
What are your favorite features in your home?
Some of our favorite features include the kitchen, which is both beautiful and highly functional for everyday cooking and gatherings. We also love the Michigan room as it’s a perfect cozy space to relax and enjoy the natural light year-round. The outdoor space has been a great extension of our living area, ideal for entertaining and enjoying the fresh air. Our favorite change from the model is the pocket door between the laundry room and the owner’s suite closet. It’s a smart space-saving detail that adds convenience to our daily routine.
What was your building process /Eastbrook experience like?
We started the building process while living out of state, which made having a reliable team especially important. Our sales agent, Robin Ryan, was extremely helpful throughout, guiding us patiently and answering all our questions. We spent a lot of time exploring the Eastbrook website, which made it easy to research options and make informed decisions. We really appreciated being able to complete all our selections before construction began, as it helped the process feel smooth and well-organized despite the distance. Overall, our Eastbrook experience was positive and reassuring from start to finish.
What does “home” mean to you?
To us, home is a place of comfort, connection, and calm—a space where we can truly be ourselves. It’s where everyday moments turn into memories, where we feel safe and supported, and where our surroundings reflect who we are and what we value most as a family.
Do you have any tips or tricks for new homeowners?
Our best tip for new homeowners is to spend plenty of time exploring the Eastbrook website and, if possible, touring model homes. This helps you envision how you want your house to function and gives you a chance to see different options in person. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and make modifications that suit your lifestyle. Eastbrook offers a wide range of customization choices. Touring homes and talking with knowledgeable people is a great way to gather ideas and make confident decisions.
