Homeowner Highlight with Amelia
One of the best things about being West Michigan and Greater Lansing’s premiere homebuilder is that at Eastbrook Homes, we’re given the opportunity to forge lifelong relationships with our clients. Each family that builds with Eastbrook has a unique story to share and an individual journey to take, but once they decide to build with Eastbrook, our homeowners become part of a bigger family – the Eastbrook Homes family of neighbors, community members, and friends. We’re delighted to share the stories and thoughts of our Eastbrook families as they detail their home-building journeys and share their experiences with future Eastbrook community members.
Amelia and her family built their custom Newport home in Eastbrook’s beautiful Harvest Meadows community. With stunning design options like Eastbrook’s famous Michigan Room and custom features like quartz countertops, wood finishes, and a beautiful fireplace, Amelia helped design a home her family and friends can enjoy for years to come. Join us as we explore Amelia’s homebuilding journey and learn about her favorite features and building tips.
When did you move into your home?
We moved in February 2021. I can’t believe it has been almost a year!
What home plan do you have?
Newport Elevation A
What is your decorating inspiration?
Overall, my inspiration is a neutral, comfortable, and functional home with lots of light and open space. Much of my inspiration comes from Instagram (@thespoiledhome, @elpetersondesign, @making_highview_home), or places like Ballard Designs, Serena & Lilly, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and Restoration Hardware. If I am feeling uninspired or lost in a specific space, I try to get ideas from many sources and choose how to incorporate my favorite elements of each.
What are your favorite features in your home?
We love all the storage, windows, second-floor owner’s suite, and 9-foot main floor ceilings in the Newport. Our favorite upgrades are the large quartz island with posts, wood hood, and cabinets to ceiling. We also love our fireplace and Michigan room.
What was your building experience with Eastbrook like?
It was very organized and transparent. We knew what to expect from day one. From making all the selections to watching the progress daily, we had a blast. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Do you have any tips or tricks for new homeowners?
Prioritize functionality. While designing, choosing furniture, etc. play out how you will use your home over the year. Host for Thanksgiving? You may need double ovens! Love your holiday lights? Now is your time to add outlets everywhere your heart desires. Is your home the go-to for summer BBQs? Splurge on the big deck! We built with materials that were durable and easy to keep clean with a big dog and for a family as well as made choices that were aligned to our love of entertaining.
Any other thoughts you would like to add?
Just a huge thank you to our core Eastbrook team, especially Joe Gavitt, Nick Bailey, Matt Heitz, and Tom Garbow, and to our amazing realtor Kim Southwick.
