In this Homeowner Highlight series, we spoke with Eastbrook homeowners Laurene and Michael. They told us more about their experience building new construction and the design choices they made that turned their new build into “home, sweet home.” Read along (and remember to take notes!) as they share their inspiration – and helpful tips and tricks for those new to the building process!

When did you move into your home?

We moved into our new home in May 2025, and it’s been an incredible experience settling in and making it our own.

What home plan do you have?

We chose the Jamestown plan, which gave us the perfect balance of classic design and modern flow. It fit our vision beautifully and offered the flexibility to personalize every space.

How did you incorporate your family’s lifestyle into your home?

We designed our home around comfort, functionality, and togetherness. The open-concept layout makes entertaining and family time easy, while the outdoor living areas provide space to unwind and enjoy the surroundings. Every feature — from the quartz countertops to the heated floors — was chosen to fit how we truly live day to day.

What is your decorating inspiration?

Our decorating style blends modern elegance with warmth and texture, while keeping a slightly formal, timeless feel. We worked closely with our interior designer, Terri Lynema, who helped us bring that vision to life. Together, we focused on clean lines, natural materials, and classic elements that make each room feel both refined and inviting.

What do you love about your Eastbrook community?

We love the community’s beauty and sense of belonging. It’s peaceful yet connected — the kind of neighborhood where everyone waves and looks out for each other. It truly feels like home.

What are your favorite features in your home?

The quartz countertops, Thermador appliances, and custom cabinetry are highlights. We also love the heated tile floors and the way natural light fills the home throughout the day.

What was your building process / Eastbrook experience like?

Our Eastbrook experience was excellent. The process was organized, transparent, and surprisingly fun. The team really listened and helped us bring our ideas to life while keeping everything on track.

What does “home” mean to you?

Home means comfort, peace, and togetherness — a reflection of who we are. It’s where we start and end each day with gratitude.

Do you have any tips or tricks for new homeowners?

Take time to think through how you’ll actually live in each space. The small design decisions you make early on end up being the ones you appreciate most every day. And enjoy the process — it’s a journey worth savoring.

Any other thoughts you would like to add?

We’re so thankful to be part of the Eastbrook family and proud of how our Jamestown home turned out. It’s everything we hoped for — a perfect blend of thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and comfort where we can build lasting memories together.
