But for Danielle and Mark, moving to Michigan wasn’t just about needing more space – it was about building a life. After years in the city, they wanted space to grow, neighbors who felt like friends, and a community where their kids could thrive. Their Sebastian home in Lincoln Pines brought that dream to life.

In this Homeowner Highlight, they share what makes their neighborhood special, their favorite features in their new home, and their advice for those thinking about building new.

How did you incorporate your family’s lifestyle into your home?

After 15 years between New York City and Chicago, we were craving space – a big yard, room to spread out, and lots of natural light. The Sebastian’s open layout, with so many windows, fit our day-to-day perfectly. We both work from home, so we also planned for two separate offices to keep work and family life running smoothly.

What is your decorating inspiration?

We’re still in progress, but we’re drawn to neutral, earthy tones and plan to layer in bold artwork to bring each room to life.

What do you love about your Eastbrook community?

Our neighbors are wonderful – lots of families with kids around the same ages – yet the neighborhood stays quiet and peaceful. We love being near bike trails and the beach, and just a short drive from Holland and Grand Rapids.

What are your favorite features in your home?

The kitchen is our hub for hosting friends and family. We also love the basement as the kids’ play zone – it gives them a space that’s their own and keeps the main living area calm and uncluttered.

What was your building process / Eastbrook experience like?

Fantastic. We were living in the Chicago area during all the initial planning and building, and Eastbrook made it easy to work through the details until we moved to Michigan. The process felt frictionless, and our construction manager kept us informed and on track the whole way.

What does “home” mean to you?

Home is where we build memories with our kids and family. It’s more than a place – it’s a feeling. And here, we truly feel at home.

Do you have any tips or tricks for new homeowners?

Trust the process – it can feel long when you’re so excited to the end, but it’s worth it. Tour as many homes as you can to learn what you love and what you might want to customize for your own. And ask a lot of questions – everyone is here to help you.

Any other thoughts you would like to add?

We’re grateful for how seamlessly everything came together and excited to keep personalizing our space as our family grows. Eastbrook helped us create a home that fits our life – now we get to fill it with moments.
