Homeowner Highlight with Aimee and Rob

At Eastbrook Homes, we love connecting with our excellent community of homeowners. Our Homeowner Highlight series pulls back the curtain on the home-buying experience through personal stories that shine a light on tips and tricks that every new homeowner can learn from!

Our featured homeowners in this edition, Aimee and Rob, went into the building process with an eye toward their future as parents. For them, it was important to create a layout that was conducive to raising their growing family. A smart approach to design, and a great location in an Eastbrook community, let Aimee and Rob create a home they could be excited to watch their kids grow up in. Eastbrook Homes is pleased to share Aimee and Rob’s story and the new homeowner insights they learned during their home-building experience!

When did you move into your home?  

We moved in mid-October 2022. We were so thankful to arrive just in time to enjoy Halloween in our new neighborhood!

What home plan do you have? 

We have the Mayfair.

How did you incorporate your family’s lifestyle into your home? 

We built this home with the intention of watching our kids grow up here. We wanted an open-concept living space that allowed us to watch the kids play while we were cooking or doing chores, but also provided room to entertain family and friends comfortably. We also put a focus on our outdoor space (extending the deck and designing a patio area) as we enjoy spending time outside with our family as much as possible. 

What is your decorating inspiration? 

I am inspired by tones found in nature. When we were picking out furniture, we were drawn to the natural wood tones, and we primarily chose to accent with shades of blue, green, or brown. I love to fill my home with plants (both real and fake!) and fresh flowers as well. If I had to describe my style, it would most likely be “modern Bohemian.” 

What do you love about your Eastbrook community? 

We have enjoyed many walks to the playground, as our kids love to play and swing there. We love having sidewalks for us to walk, run, or bike on as well, especially with our little ones. We are excited to try out the pool this summer for the first time! 

What are your favorite features in your home? 

We LOVE our Michigan Room and all the natural light that fills our home. I am also so happy with how our Owner’s Suite turned out – our bathroom is gorgeous and our walk-in closet is huge! 

What was your building process /Eastbrook experience like? 

We had a very positive experience. There were a few small setbacks, of course, but these were quickly addressed in the best way possible. If you want to learn more about our building process, you can watch the Building New With The Jacksons series! 😉 

What does “home” mean to you? 

Home should be a place of comfort. I feel like our home is a place where we look forward to resting and rejuvenating ourselves for the next busy day. We also wanted our home to be a place where we enjoy spending time rather than always feeling the need to go out and do things. I value feeling content in my home with my family and friends.

Do you have any tips or tricks for new homeowners? 

The best design advice that I received was to keep the “permanent” pieces (e.g., walls, cabinets, etc.) neutral and add in color with the furniture and decorations. This will allow you to change your design theme or style in the future if you choose to without having to make major changes to your home. I have also found that I value simplicity when decorating (rather than a lot of knick-knacks, picture frames, etc.) more now that I have two young kids who come with a lot of stuff.
