Holiday Homeowner Highlight with Jessica

In the midst of exciting holiday gatherings and tree-lighting events, it’s easy to forget the best part of the holidays: Spending time at home with family and friends. For our Eastbrook Homes homeowner Jessica, that looks like gathering around the fire, baking cookies, and turning on a nostalgic Christmas movie.

When did you move into your Eastbrook Home?

We moved into our home June of 2025.

Which Eastbrook community did you move into?

Walnut Ridge in Byron Center

What has been your favorite thing about this community?

We love the location of this neighborhood. It’s close to our kids’ schools, downtown Byron Center, shopping, and restaurants. We also have loved meeting and getting to know our new neighbors!

How does your family celebrate the holidays?

Our family celebrates the holidays by attending church, getting together with friends and family, watching lots of Christmas movies, and making fun Christmas food and drinks!

What is your holiday decoration inspiration?

I would say my holiday decor inspiration is classic and cozy! I love incorporating current styles with traditional ones.

Are you hosting any holiday parties in your home? If so, what does that look like for you?

We love to host Christmas gatherings! Our small group from church comes over, and we do apps and a white elephant gift exchange. We also host Christmas Eve. First, we attend church together with family, and then we come back home, have dinner together and open Christmas Eve boxes.

What does “home for the holidays” mean to you?

We love being “home for the holidays.” For us that means lighting a fire, turning on a Christmas movie, baking some Christmas cookies, and enjoying time together as a family and with friends.

Are you planning on participating in any holiday event or activity in the greater community you’re now in? If so, which ones?

We love attending the Christmas market at the downtown market in Grand Rapids. Another one of our favorite traditions is to do a drive as a family to look at neighborhood Christmas lights in the area!

Any other memories or things that stand out to you about your Eastbrook Journey that you would like to share?

We loved the process of building our house with Eastbrook! We loved our time in the design studio, and it was so fun to see everything come together!
