While searching for your dream home, it’s a good idea to attend Open House events held in the area or community where you would like to live. An Open House is a great way to discover many things about the home and community, and also a great way to get answers to any questions you might have.
However, with any Open House, there is also some etiquette that not only makes you a good guest but helps the Eastbrook team member know how to help you. With a little information they should be ready to provide answers to your questions – or let you have some space.
Here are some suggestions for attending any Open House –
Dress For Success
Wear comfortable clothes to walk around the home and property, along with shoes that you can easily slip on and off. It’s always best to remove your shoes at the front door to ensure homes stay squeaky clean. In addition, keep an eye on the weather so you don’t get caught walking the home site without the appropriate clothes, whether that be sunglasses or a parka!
Sign In, Please
Even if you’re not sure if you want to follow up with a team member after you leave, it’s a good idea to put your contact info on the guest list. That will ensure you don’t get home only to realize that beautiful house you were just standing in really is the home of your dreams.
If you are not really interested, just tell the team member that if someone contacts you. If you tell us that wasn’t the house for you, then we just hope you’ll give us another opportunity at the next event.
Ask Questions, but be Fair to Other Guests
If you are serious about seeing the home or asking the Eastbrook Open House host questions, please try to arrive early. Also, there may be many other guests who are interested in a new home, so try not to prevent other guests from asking the host questions too.
Besides, you might learn something from other people’s questions.
Be Considerate
Most Open House events take more work than you’d think, and the host has put their time and effort into making the guests feel welcome. Be patient with them as they are trying to make everyone feel at home.
A lot of effort goes into Open House events so please give the host – and the home – a chance.
