Eastbrook Homes Community Giving
A house is just a building, but a home is a place that provides safety, comfort, and the support of the community that surrounds you. That’s why Eastbrook Homes is committed to partnering with organizations that provide services for those in need. Through nonprofit partnerships, Eastbrook works to supply individuals and families with ample community resources, giving them security and peace of mind.
As Mick McGraw, Eastbrook President and CEO, says, “We don’t just build houses. We build communities.”
Starting to Give Back
Although Eastbrook Homes has been investing in communities for some time, its giving efforts were formalized in the fall of 2017 with the first Taste and Tour campaign. What was originally conceived as a series of fall fundraising events for Eastbrook’s local charity partners evolved into a broader giving campaign that helped raise money for nonprofits all across West Michigan and Lansing, even reaching charities as far away as Auburn, Alabama!
Since the launch of Taste and Tour, the campaign has raised over $1,000,000 for Eastbrook’s partnered nonprofits through donations, events, and matching campaigns. Eastbrook itself has been responsible for over $850,000 of charity donations. The breadth of charity partners is wide, supporting affordable housing, food security, health services, and more, all aimed at building safe, tightly bonded communities supported by accessible services.
Affordable Housing
The foundation of any community is being able to provide a home for those in need. That’s why Eastbrook has collaborated with organizations like AYA Youth Collective, which seeks to break cycles of homelessness for young people. Over the years, they’ve managed to house 85 youth, and are currently able to house 24 youth within their own facilities as they help them find more stable, long-term living accommodations.
Family Promise of West Michigan is another Eastbrook partner working to combat homelessness, specifically focusing on helping families with children. Through its Eastbrook sponsorship, Family Promise has been able to double its affordable housing program over the years, providing a safe space for families to stay while they try to get back on their feet.
Food Security
Another one of Eastbrook’s partnerships has been with Kids Food Basket, which was initially conceived as a way to provide after-school meals for kids in need. It has since grown to not only target food insecurity for families across Michigan, but also as an educational program to teach sustainable home gardening practices to help families learn to provide their own healthy food. Eastbrook Homes regularly teams up with KFB to support their fundraising and volunteer events.
Health Services
Eastbrook Homes is a proud corporate sponsor of Mary Free Bed, a nonprofit that provides rehabilitation services for a range of needs and conditions. From providing physical therapy, wheelchairs, prosthetics, and assistive technology, Mary Free Bed works to provide access to a full and enriching life for community members with injuries or disabilities.
Comprehensive Therapy Center is another Eastbrook partner focused on rehabilitation, specifically helping children facing developmental delays and disabilities. What was initially a speech-pathology program, CTC has since evolved to provide sensory therapy, movement therapy, and assistive technologies that help kids overcome disabilities in a way they couldn’t with therapy alone.
