1. Start Early

Even the most seamless move can still have the occasional anxious moment. Minimize the potential for stress by beginning the moving process as soon as you know you’re moving! That doesn’t mean you need to start packing boxes right away, but you should at least begin putting together a moving plan as soon as possible.

2. Declutter Before Packing

Moving is the perfect opportunity to do some spring cleaning! Before you start packing boxes, take some time to sort through your belongings and sell, donate, or throw away the things you no longer use or need. This will make packing easier and will ensure you begin life in your new home in a clean and organized way!

3. Create a Moving Checklist

Keep yourself organized by making a to-do list of all the tasks that need to be completed throughout the moving process. Little things, like contacting your utility providers and updating your address, are easy to forget about in the middle of the chaos of a move. Write everything down right at the start of the process to ensure nothing gets left out.

4. Invest in Proper Packing Supplies

Always be prepared for the unexpected! Make sure you pack a separate bag with clothes, toiletries, and other essentials that you keep with you while traveling to your new house. Delays in the arrival of your belongings can happen, and in that case, you want to be sure you have everything you need to be comfortable while you wait.

9. Arrange for Help

With so many things to think about and an unending stream of boxes to pack, moving is a monumental task for you and your family to handle by yourselves.
