Holiday Home Tour 5 – The Wingo Family
This week on the Eastbrook Homes Holiday Home Tour, we’re stopping in to visit with the Wingo Family. Geri Wingo was kind enough to share some of her unique Christmas traditions as well as a vivid description of her beautiful decorating style.
You only need to cruise through the streets of your favorite neighborhood after dark to see the effort many people put into their Holiday lights and decorations. For some, decorating their home is an art and the end results can be spectacular.
Read on as Geri Wingo describes her decorating style, and also, why their traditions matter so much that, even as adults, her children still help make Christmas morning into a special event.
EBH: What Eastbrook community do you live in?
GW: We purchased our home in River Oaks
EBH: What home plan did you build or buy?
GW: We chose the Balsam.
EBH: What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
GW: Even though my kids are adults, we still open presents Christmas morning.
EBH: Christmas for me has always been a magical time of year centered around family and close friends. The focal point has always been around the birth of Jesus.
GW: One of the traditions that I started with my kids was they were always given just three gifts at Christmas representing the three gifts given to Jesus from the three kings.
While we did embrace Santa, I never wanted my kids to lose sight of the real meaning of why we celebrate Christmas.
EBH: How would you describe your Christmas decor style?
GW: Classic. I’ve always had my decorations coordinate with the interior of my home, right down to the wrapping paper. I usually have a theme that starts with the wreath on the front door and carries throughout the house.
I’ve always leaned towards traditional holiday decorations and always use white lights. Our decorations are neutrals (gold, silver and white) with a touch of red and black. I’ve used lots of pinecones on the tree, wreaths, garland on the fireplace and stair railing accented with lots of lights and candles.
EBH: What are your favorite features in your home?
GW: We love our sunroom!
EBH: What was your building process/Eastbrook experience like?
GW: Excellent! The building process was smooth and we were well informed. The house was completed weeks ahead of schedule and we are extremely pleased with the end result.
Thank you, Geri, for sharing your family’s Christmas traditions with us, and for giving us a look inside your beautiful home.
Whether your idea of the perfect Christmas Day means two people sharing a quiet morning in front of a roaring fire, or the whole family lining up in your kitchen for a big breakfast, our whole Eastbrook family wishes you the very best as the year comes to a close.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
